    Wide-angle lenses with zoom capability and optics that allow for fitting many elements within the frame with relatively little distortion. Their focal length usually starts from 24-35mm for full frame, 15-25mm for crop frame, and 50-70mm for medium format. 2. They are usually used in street photography but also in indoor spaces where there is limited distance from the subject. The perspective of wide-angle lenses makes things appear farther apart than they actually are.

The 16-28 f/2.8 lens uses a new silent DC motor that allows the lens to focus faster and quieter compared to previous generations. The DC motor, combined with the new magnetic GMR AF sensor, work together to increase autofocus speed.

Aspherical and Super-low Dispersion Glass Elements

A new, 56mm diameter, large aspherical glass element has been incorporated into the front lens group, while there are 2 more aspherical elements in the rear group. 3 super-low dispersion glass elements have also been incorporated throughout the optical design to reduce chromatic aberrations, provide maximum resolution, more uniform brightness, and distortion correction.

One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism

Tokina's exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by pulling the focus ring forward for AF and towards the camera for manual focus. There is no need to change the AF/MF switch on Nikon* bodies and there is no second AF/MF switch on the lens for Canon, everything is achieved through the focus ring.

    I have had this lens for over a year and I am very satisfied. It is not the sharpest lens out there, but it is quite good at f2.8 and even better at smaller apertures. It is heavy and gives the feeling that it is made of high-quality materials. The autofocus is fast and reliable. Overall, it is a very good lens at an affordable price.
