    The coarse side, at about 120 grit, is very poor and wears away as if you’re rubbing charcoal. After sharpening two knives, it developed a large hollow and needs flattening.
    The finer side is quite good, around 240 grit.
    Using a little oil gives it nice feedback. It cuts a little slowly, but it’s quite hard and effective for edge-leading stropping, so it works well for deburring.
    Old technology, but it gets the job done. Generally quite messy and time-consuming. Better and more modern sharpening solutions are recommended.
