A troubled little mouse is excessively afraid of cats. When his situation reaches a breaking point and nothing else can help him, following the advice of an expert, he obtains a passport, buys a ticket, and one morning sets off for the dreamland of Cat-Free Country where the cheese pies are fluffy and filled with delicious cheese. He travels by hot air balloon, truck, cart, barge, and yacht, passing through Fomfaï, Piperoú, and Varadouá, but when he arrives at Cat-Free Country, a terrible disappointment awaits him. Cat-Free Country is filled with traps. However, the mouse does not give up. He is determined to discover the distant, inaccessible, and dreamlike Country without Traps and without Cats. His dream comes true, but not exactly as he expected.
