The vision of a happy and balanced society, following the Tao (Way) of the ancient sages, was heralded by Confucius (551-479 BC), who sought to "harmonize" his society, starting from the harmonization, or more appropriately, the purification of the character of each individual.
In this work, we will "hear" his teaching on the great questions, mainly about how to relate to others with Truth, Reciprocity, and Humanity—qualities that give meaning to our thoughts and actions, and consequently our lives.
Confucius, like Laozi, spoke of the Tao by bringing it down from Heaven to Earth and into the relationships among people. His concern was the need for "proper behavior" and respect towards ourselves, our family, our friends, and towards all things around us.
His vision resembles that of Epicurus (341-270 BC), the great Greek philosopher who considered friendship as one of the highest goods of humanity; thus, in this edition, the collection of sayings from Epicurean Philosophy entitled "Epicurus Address" is included as an Appendix.
