They gave me the black one as a gift in mid-December when it cost 119 euros in large stores. My impressions so far are mixed. The watch does have a good battery and a fantastic display. With always-on display, it lasted 8 days, while without it, I'm at 6 days and 60% battery. The response and scrolling in the menus are not good. It always takes time to register my touch, and scrolling seems to lag. Many times, because I'm in a hurry, I press another submenu and another one opens. However, the most significant negatives are related to calls and notifications. I haven't found a way to always display the caller's name. Connected to the Redmi Note 7, on the screen, 8 out of 10 times it only shows the number. Also, when I answer a call from the watch for about ten seconds, the callers can't hear me, but I can hear them fine. The same thing happens with notifications, so I miss them. Overall, in its limited smart features, the watch has been disappointing so far. I hope it improves with a future update unless it's a compatibility issue with my phone.
The speaker and microphone are decent, but you can't hear well in a noisy environment. Also, you have to bring your hand close to your mouth to hear and be heard clearly. You can't, for example, be lying down with your hand stretched out on the other side.
As for the measurements, I believe it counts more than it should. I haven't put down paper and pencil, but I know approximately how many steps I take per day, and I notice that it counts more than my old Xiaomi. Of course, it also counts hand movements while driving and registers them as steps, but that's a general issue with this technology and not specific to this watch. As long as the sensors rely on hand movements, this will always happen. As for the sports and programs it offers, I have no opinion since I haven't exercised in fifteen years, and it's not something that concerns me at all.
Another thing that has disappointed me about the watch is that it doesn't have the same watch face in always-on mode and regular mode. If you have an always-on face and press to see the regular watch face, it will be completely different. Unfortunately, in always-on mode, you don't have the option to change or add faces. I found a simple watch face that matches the always-on mode, but it's only one, and it's not very attractive. On my wife's Huawei GT2, it has two exactly identical always-on faces with the difference that the always-on face only shows the time and date. I don't know why Honor or Huawei made this mistake. The annoying thing when you don't have always-on mode is that the screen doesn't immediately light up with certain hand movements, and you have to press the button. Also, in my opinion, it's not aesthetically pleasing to wear a watch with a black screen until you "wake it up," which is why I'm a fan of the always-on function. You wake up in the morning and want to see the time. A simple turn of the wrist is not enough to turn on the screen; it requires a bigger movement.
In conclusion, I believe it is a decent watch for which I wouldn't pay more than a hundred euros. I find it unacceptable that the smartband 2 I bought three years ago, with a custom firmware that I installed to improve its smart features, is better than this one. If anyone has any solutions or answers to my issues, please take the trouble to write them in the comments.
