Dated single malt whisky from the Distiller's Edition series by Talisker distillery, aged for ten years. This particular whisky has undergone a second maturation in Amoroso casks, resulting in its typical smoky character being enriched with sweet elements. It can be enjoyed neat or with a splash of water.

Characteristics

  • Aroma: Caramel, seaweed, intense scent of fresh citrus, milky coffee.
  • Taste: Fresh pineapple and apple, balanced with a hint of sea saltiness. Some subtle notes of fresh thyme and basil.

    The rounding that resulted from maturing in sherry did not work well for my palate. It probably took away something from the wonderful character that the 10-year-old has rather than adding to it. It is not clearly peated, it is not intensely sherried, and I found its nose to be very "closed".
    Update: new tasting 7 months after opening the bottle and it seems that oxygen helped it breathe and open up its aromas.
