Description

Alexis Tsipras is presented by the famous French correspondent for international media, Fabien Perrier, as the politician who, in an attempt to redefine not only the Greek but also the European left, caused a significant upheaval in the political matters of Europe.

According to the author, behind the personal journey of Alexis Tsipras unfolds, on one hand, the post-junta history of Greece and, on the other hand, the history of recent political upheavals in crisis-stricken Europe, in which the Greek politician found himself at the center.

Regardless of how each person perceives the personality of Alexis Tsipras, it is certain that his involvement in the political affairs of the country has clearly left its mark. Specifically, his leadership, initially as a leftist politician and subsequently as a leftist Prime Minister, negotiating the country’s disengagement from onerous memoranda; the achievement of the Prespa agreement; the individual laws and plans with a social dimension; the effort to separate church and state; the process of forming an expanded front of the left, etc., involved the entirety of Greek society in a process of rethinking and critique, both of the dominant and any leftist politics.

It is also certain that this seemingly Greek issue, precisely due to the "Greek experiment" of the banking Europe, rapidly evolved and, always under the constant involvement of the Greek politician, became a European and international issue.

Therefore, the exploration of the history of this political figure cannot be judged independently from the parallel history of post-junta Greece. The book Alexis Tsipras and the transformations of politics examines this precisely from that perspective – and in the interesting form of an early biography – the life and work of Tsipras.
