The Amorgos is imbued with a naturalness that makes it resonate as beautifully as the era in which it was published, something we can say for very few poems. No matter how many observations we make about the Amorgos, it is difficult, if not impossible, to pinpoint its secret.

Perhaps, I am hypothesizing, the truly astonishing aspect of this poem is simply its naturalness, the balance of meaning upon the language, independent of both. We cannot again touch upon the core of this naturalness, which ultimately is a divine gift, however, we can observe its external features of aesthetics.

One of these is certainly the impression that the words are connected by a gust of wind, as if to say that between the flashes and the shadows of meaning, as they alternate, there is no vibration, one does not discern the seams between the phrases. The most musical rhythm, which we usually hear culminating in a fanfare, controls the helm of a voice that is clear and smooth, almost unruffled. This achievement may not have been noted in Greek letters since the time of Solomos.
