So I got 3 pieces (1 as a backup) and I have connected the 3 front fans (that bring in air) to one of these and then to a port on the motherboard, and the 3 top fans (that exhaust air) to one of these and then to another port on the motherboard

The Noctua NA-FC1 fan controller manually adjusts the speed of 4-pin PWM fans using the central rotary knob, with a duty cycle range of 0 to 100%. It can operate on its own or together with the motherboard’s automatic fan control, allowing lower speeds than those set by the automatic control. The orange LED provides a visual indication of the settings, while the “No Stop” mode prevents the speed from dropping below 300 RPM.
