This volume focuses on the fundamental beliefs, values, social choices, etc., as well as the aesthetic perceptions of contemporary society, the knowledge of the evolution of folklore theory and research, the issues of its relationships with other adjacent sciences, and the criticism exerted regarding them.
It also emphasizes contemporary inquiries and the redefining of the goals and tools of folklore science, as well as the relationships and influences it receives from movements such as postmodernism, feminism, postcolonial theories, theories of sexuality, etc.
Particularly highlighted is the study of the contribution of the analytical category 'Gender' in the renewal, modernization, and democratization of folklore studies, the internet and its ethnography, the new inquiries of folklore research, and the approach to folklore, in contrast to the dominant perceptions until recently, as a means and vehicle for approaching and accepting otherness in the relationships between cultures, ethnicities, various folk groups, social classes and strata, genders, sexuality, religion, etc.
As an annex to this volume, there is a reflection, to some extent, of an attempt by students from the University of the Aegean to create interesting relevant educational material.
