In order to facilitate its reading, the present volume has been divided into four thematic units. Each part is divided into chapters, and each chapter into sections with their own titles. The notes explaining different terms related to spiritual or monastic life, which are known to our brothers in Christ familiar with patristic texts, have been made to make the text understandable to readers to whom this vocabulary would be unfamiliar.
