Telephoto lenses offer optical zoom that allows photography from a distance. Lenses with a focal length of 80-135mm on full frame, 50-75mm on crop frame, and 120-180mm on medium format are ideal for portrait photography as they allow photography from a medium distance and flatter the subject's features. Larger focal lengths are used for wildlife photography, sports events, and generally for all subjects that require a greater distance.

    Wide Angle

Wide-angle lenses with optics that allow for fitting many elements within the frame with relatively little distortion. Their focal distance is usually 24-35mm for full-frame, 15-25mm for crop frame, and 50-70mm for medium format. They are commonly used in street photography but also in indoor spaces where there is limited distance from the subject. The perspective of wide-angle lenses makes things appear farther apart than they actually are.

Description

Description

The Fujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR lens is a constant-aperture zoom lens for Fujifilm X Mount cameras, with a focal length of 16–80 mm and a range from wide-angle to medium telephoto. Its optical construction includes 16 elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical elements and one ED aspherical element, which help reduce aberrations and maintain sharpness across the frame. The Super EBC coating reduces flare and ghosting, while OIS stabilization compensates for camera shake.

The internal autofocus system uses a stepping motor for fast, quiet operation. The minimum focusing distance is 35 cm throughout the zoom range, while minimal changes in the angle of view during focusing also make it suitable for video. The lens barrel is sealed at 10 points for dust and weather resistance, and can operate at temperatures as low as -10 °C.

This particular lens came as a kit with the XH2 and I thought I wouldn't use it much, but I was wrong! It's a lens that can do many things at a decent price! For a relaxed trip, like a camera and a lens, I believe this would be my go-to kit! You don't need to carry 2.8 lenses unless you really need them anymore... F4 is just fine, and it's lightweight with very good image quality, it never disappoints!

An excellent lens for every use. The lens construction quality is exceptional and the waterproofing is impeccable. I have been using it professionally since November 2019 when it first came to the Greek market. Compared to prime lenses, it is heavier, but not so much as to be bothersome on Fujifilm X series bodies such as the X-T3, X-T2, X-H1, and even the smaller X-E3. Additionally, the range it offers (16-80mm, equivalent to approximately 24-120mm in full-frame) combined with the perfect Optical Image Stabilization makes it the best choice for video use as well as for photography situations where changing lenses is difficult. The cost is not small, but it truly is worth it for the purchase of such a high-quality and useful lens.
