It is sad to see young people committing suicide because they cannot endure a humiliation, such as a failure in exams, poor behavior from their fellow humans towards them, or an economic disaster. All these events, when faced in a Christian manner, with humility, trust in God, optimism, and calmness, are quickly overcome and become an opportunity for greater progress. From everything, something good can come out spiritually - and even materially - for the person who is tested with difficulties.

Depression, on the other hand, paralyzes a person, almost deadens them. Therefore, let us listen carefully to the advice of Elder Porphyrios, especially those that speak to us about the cause of depression and its great relationship with our egoism, and let us pray to God to give us humility, because without it we will be constantly sad.
