  • Communication Protocol

Most SSDs use SATA III or PCI Express.

Almost all 2.5" SSDs connect via SATA III while most M.2 SSDs connect via PCI Express.

PCI Express connection offers higher speeds, but this is mainly noticeable in demanding applications (high-resolution video processing, transferring large files, etc.) and is not necessary for everyday use.

    PCI Express 3.0

Connecting to the PCI Express expansion port of the motherboard. Equally popular way of connecting SSD hard drives directly to the motherboard. This connection offers the highest speeds.

  • Write Speed

Indicative size for the maximum speed of the hard disk during data recording. The larger the size, the faster the data recording.

For an SSD that uses the SATA III protocol, the average recording speed is 300MB/s, while for one with NVMe it is 1200MB/s.

These differences make sense in particularly demanding use cases (e.g. high-resolution video editing). For most users, the differences will not be noticeable.

  • Read Speed

Indicative size for the maximum speed of the hard disk during data reading. The larger the size, the faster the data reading speed.

An average reading speed for an SSD using the SATA III protocol is 600MB/s, while for one with NVMe it is 2000MB/s.

These differences make sense in particularly demanding use cases (e.g. high-resolution video editing). For most users, the differences will not be noticeable.

Capacity
1000 GB

Capacity

The golden ratio of cost and capacity for now is 500GB and 1TB.

For gaming or professional programs that require a lot of space for their installation, a capacity of at least 500GB is recommended.

As an indication, a 1TB hard drive can hold about 250 thousand photos taken with a 12MP camera or 250 movies.
Communication Protocol
PCI Express 3.0

Most SSDs use SATA III or PCI Express.

Almost all 2.5" SSDs connect via SATA III while most M.2 SSDs connect via PCI Express.

PCI Express 3.0
Connecting to the PCI Express expansion port of the motherboard. Equally popular way of connecting SSD hard drives directly to the motherboard. This connection offers the highest speeds.
NVMe
Yes

NVMe

Communication template that enhances the performance and speed of SSDs.

The higher speeds offered by an NVMe drive are mainly applicable to demanding applications (high-resolution video processing, transferring large files, etc.) and are not necessary for simple everyday use.
Heatsink
No

Heatsink

The SSD is equipped with a heatsink to maintain low temperatures, ensuring better performance and more efficient heat dissipation in the SSD.
Compatible with PlayStation 5
No

Compatible with PlayStation 5

Compatible with PS5.

Cache Type
DRAM-less
NAND Flash Type
TLC

NAND Flash Type

The type of flash memory used by the SSD. It affects the drive's durability, performance, and cost.

TLC
The most common option, offering a very good balance between performance, durability, and cost.

Dimensions

Form Factor
M.2 (Type 2280)

Form Factor

The term form factor refers to the physical size of SSDs. The motherboard must support the form factor of the SSD in order for it to be installed.

The higher speeds offered by an NVMe drive are mainly applicable to demanding applications (such as high-definition video processing, transferring large files, etc.) and are not necessary for everyday use.

M.2 (Type 2280)
The motherboard must support the form factor in order for the SSD to be installed on it. It is worth noting that M.2 drives are divided into those that use the SATA protocol and those that use PCI Express. Of the SSDs that use the PCI Express protocol, most also support NVMe technology, which allows them even faster speeds if supported by the motherboard.

Performance

Read Speed
3230 MB/s

Read Speed

Indicative size for the maximum speed of the hard disk during data reading. The larger the size, the faster the data reading speed.

An average reading speed for an SSD using the SATA III protocol is 600MB/s, while for one with NVMe it is 2000MB/s.

These differences make sense in particularly demanding use cases (e.g. high-resolution video editing). For most users, the differences will not be noticeable.

I put it in my late 2013 iMac27' and it works perfectly!
I was thinking of upgrading the RAM as well, but for now, I'll postpone it.
I have only noticed a huge difference with the SSD
