In this work, Dr. Dionysios Tompros approaches, through the geographical scientific tool of Systemic Geopolitical Analysis, and having satellite technology as a geopolitical factor, the dynamic state of the redistribution of power in the Geopolitical System of the Greater Middle East. He consistently records the impacts that space technology has on the region as well as the objectives of those involved in the use of outer space.
Space, as a new medium of information transfer as well as the geostrategic presence of specific geopolitical nation-state actors, is the new arena in which the world will confront in the coming years across the four pillars of power as defined by Systemic Geopolitical Analysis. Dr. Tompros has done considerable and significant work in this field, starting from the first chapter.
This work, which is the result of years of study, monitoring, and analysis of space issues, presents in a straightforward manner the changes that have occurred in this new field and the actions taken for its exploitation both by the forces that form the “Supersystem” and by the actors within the examined systemic space.
Abundant material is provided to meet the needs of readers who wish to gain insight into the issues presented or wish to enrich their knowledge.
Particularly interesting is the immediate following chapter in which the military doctrines for space developed in the USA are elaborated, illustrating the effects of the Political pillar in shaping a position for the determination, means, and limits of power projection.
Similar interest is shown in the selected and examined texts of the EU by the author. The geostrategic choice highlighted in the last chapter is one that, according to the Author, will reverse the climate affecting the area adjacent to the Turkey – Greater Middle East complex and restore the lost balance so that, in addition to the sought economic development, stability in the geographical area impacting and influencing Greece can also be achieved.
