Description

In The Crazy Odyssey, Carl Barks sends the Ducks to the world of Homer, or rather to a decor inspired by the Odyssey. It all started when Uncle Scrooge received a letter from someone named "Signorina De Circe", who claimed to be a descendant of the witch Circe and was willing to give him the treasure of the king of Ithaca. Donald's nephews guess the truth in time, though. But that won't stop their uncles from falling into the trap and suffering the fate of Odysseus' companions. Magica, who has Circe's wand, will transform the children into piglets and Donald initially into a goat and then into a turtle.
The first edition of the story is characterized by two temporary experiments... The speech balloons all have a uniform rectangular shape, while the panels do not have their black border. Fortunately, in the reprints of the adventure in America, at least the outline of the panels was restored.
Uncle Scrooge 40, in which The Crazy Odyssey was published, is the first issue of the magazine that bears the logo of the Gold Key publishing house on its cover. After a collaboration that lasted 27 whole years, Western decided to take over the publishing activity that until then it had entrusted to Dell through its own Gold Key house.
