Hercules leaves his children in Thebes and descends to Hades to bring Cerberus back to the earth. His long absence creates the suspicion that he has died.

The Wolf turns against Hercules' children, but he suddenly appears and saves them. Then Hera instills madness in the hero, who kills his wife and children.

Once he recovers, he wants to commit suicide, but Theseus saves him, coming to cleanse him from the pollution.
