This book is aimed at both the general public and medical professionals, including healthcare workers, nurses, and other paramedical personnel, as an introductory guide to the subject of biological weapons and bioterrorism.
It is part of the broader effort to inform, demystify, acquire knowledge, and raise awareness about the issue of bioterrorism. Most of the diseases described are either forgotten or unknown in the clinical practice of many doctors in Greece.
The goal is to present diseases such as anthrax, smallpox, plague, tularemia, cholera, Ebola hemorrhagic fever, and botulism as comprehensively as possible, including the latest developments in both their diagnosis and treatment.
The selection of these only seven diseases was based on the significantly increased likelihood of their use as biological weapons, as well as the most recent bibliographic references on the topic of bioterrorism.
