Drama and theater are intrinsically a dialogue and contemplation: the characters on stage converse with one another and on the pages of the book, not only with each other but also with the viewer and the reader, for whom the game of the invented world is set up; and they contemplate for themselves, the roles they play within the work, as well as within the existing world.

This volume gathers ten studies on theater-related and dramaturgical topics, which concern almost exclusively Greece from the 17th to the 20th century: from the performances of religious theater in Constantinople, "Erophile," Rigas Ferraios and the theater of Vienna to Nikos Kazantzakis, Notis Pergialis, and Stratis Myrivilis.
