Description

Port Askaig 8 Years Old is a single malt whisky, aged for 8 years in American oak barrels. It is the core expression of the Port Askaig distillery because its soft and sweet character is the perfect introduction to the island of Islay. On the nose, a combination of smoke gives way to smoked meat, citrus fruits, and brown sugar. On the palate, apple juice, lemon, and lime followed by cumin and bacon, and on the finish, salt and black pepper in a smoky embrace. Enjoy it with ice, neat, or with a few drops of mineral water.

Single malt and not good??? Funny things. Islay vanilla caramel...smoke.... for its 8 years and its price, it's super. Many compare whiskies of double aging at double the price, etc. Misguided! Also, I will express my opinion... what does someone think they will understand if they drink a malt that is ten times the price??? A small difference in taste, usually smoother... And so??? Spend 300 -500 euros for a taste idea. I mean, the high prices are mostly due to rarity and small bottling rather than a significant difference. A lot of money for an idea!! If you have it, there’s no problem!!!!

Very good peated whisky. 4 stars because it lacks something compared to my top choice, Ardbeg.

In my opinion, it has a nose of charcoal, lemon, wood, roasted nuts, and a hint of thyme. The taste is mainly sweet tobacco, lemon, roasted nuts, with the strong flavor of oak wood tying it all together beautifully. The aftertaste is long-lasting, with plenty of wood, truffle, lemon, and a subtle sweetness of honey. Very satisfied.

    Very good for its price.
Smoke and iodine in the nose with a little acidity of lemon for the sweet surprise in taste from vanilla, honey, caramel, bacon, and a spicier aftertaste with smoke and barbecue!

A smoky whiskey, the smoke is one-dimensional on the nose. In terms of taste, it lacks the ashiness of Lagavulin 16, for example, which makes it "friendlier". There is a hint of iodine, with a bit of sweetness at the end. I would describe it as "rounded".
