Description

Behind the creation of ZOINOS WINERY is the restless and progressive spirit of the local winemakers. In 1954, the first winery was established in Zitsa, while in 1974, the first modern winery in Northwestern Greece was founded. Wines from the white Debina variety are recognized as Zitsa PDO wines. ZOINOS WINERY was created in 2006, separating the winery from the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Ioannina.

Viticulture in Epirus, particularly in Zitsa, has a long history. The wines of the region are renowned as they are cultivated with rare varieties: the white Debina and the red Vlahiko and Bekari. The vine-growing zone of Zitsa covers 2,100 acres on a plateau with gentle slopes and rich flora.

The zone's elevation is 550-730m. The soils are calcareous and sloping, influenced by the sea winds, offering a mild winter and a cool summer. The climatic characteristics and indigenous varieties produce wines of many different types and high quality.

  • Vlahiko - Bekari 70% Cabernet Sauvignon 30%.
  • P.G.I. Epirus.
  • The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks.
  • Velvety taste and rich aroma.
  • Ages for about one year in French oak barrels and for 12 months in the bottle.
