The Sierra West board game by Board & Dice is a strategy game for 1–4 players, who take on the role of a leader of an expedition to California. Players guide a group of pioneers, combining strategy and tactics at every step.
The game includes four modules with special cards and components that combine with the core game elements to create different ways to play. At the start of each game, one module is selected and a mountain is formed from overlapping cards from the corresponding deck. The modules add thematic content, alternative paths to victory, and changes to the core mechanics.
