I bought it mainly because I saw very good reviews, especially from abroad. Quite a few people say they have had the same model for over 15-20 years, so that made a good impression on me.
I got it for my parents, who drink French press coffee every morning. The coffee is ready in about 3-5 minutes, comes out really hot, with a very nice aroma and taste. Even for me, who usually doesn’t drink French press, it made an impression. The hot plate underneath keeps it hot for about 40-45 minutes and then turns off automatically for safety.
Simple but sturdy design, without unnecessary extras.
The only reason it loses one star is the carafe. Guys over at Braun, what did you do with that lid? It hardly clicks into place at all and can come off at the slightest touch. It should have been screw-on or at least lock in better.
Fortunately, the downside is relatively minor and there are universal carafes that fit, so if needed I’ll get one of those.
