1. The Role of Special Mix as a Pure Pigment

Special Mix shades (such as 0/66 Intense Violet) are pure color tones that do not have a tone depth (i.e., they do not correspond to any natural level from 1 to 10). Their main purpose is:

• Intensification: Adding a small amount to the main formula to enhance the desired reflect (e.g., adding 0/66 to a violet shade for more intensity).

• Correction/Neutralization: Used to neutralize unwanted undertones (e.g., 0/66 is used to neutralize strong yellow/golden undertones).

Important Relationship: The lighter the base shade to which Special Mix is added, the less Special Mix is needed to achieve the desired tone, due to the greater intensity of the pure pigment.
