The studies on the Asia Minor Catastrophe hosted in this edition attempt to shed light on the causes of the Defeat on one hand and the reasons that make it almost impossible to form a common interpretative narrative on the other. This inability, along with the guilt syndromes, created a "constructed oblivion" as a result of the need for social amnesia by the forces that led to the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
