Οι μάσκες τέτοιου τύπου δεν είναι κατάλληλες για τον κορωνοϊό καθώς ναι μεν φιλτράρουν ως έναν βαθμό τον αέρα που εισπνέει αυτός που φοράει την μάσκα αλλά δεν έχει κανένα απολύτως φίλτρο για τον αέρα που εκπνέει ο ίδιος.
