The 4½ friends consist of three boys, a girl, and a dog. Kalle, the founder and leader of the detective agency "Kalle and Co," the twin brothers Steffi and Karsten, Friedel, and their dog, the Mysterious One, get involved in various adventures as they attempt to solve mysteries and strange cases. Ever since the new janitor, Mr. Pendel, came to the school, bizarre things have been happening: Objects are disappearing, and blood-curdling screams can be heard. Is the janitor hiding someone? Or is Ms. Schulte-Stratmann, Friedel's favorite teacher, in danger? A mystery and a strange case that only the group of 4½ friends can solve.
