Among all the traditionally transmitted knowledge teachings, perhaps the Islamic one is the clearest example of the difference between two complementary views that we can refer to as "Exotericism" and "Esotericism".

In Arabic terminology, the former is called "As-Siriyah," which literally means "the broad path," that is, the path available to all, while the latter is called "Al-Haqqiqah," which means "Inner Truth," designated for the elect who have not grasped it solely through their own will, having come to it more or less through reflection, but rather because of the very nature of things, as not everyone possesses the abilities and qualities required to attain the knowledge of it.
