Three fluorite elements reduce chromatic aberration, and one ED element further enhances performance and image quality by reducing reflections and ghosting when shooting in challenging conditions.

Weighing just 6.4 lb, this lens is extremely portable for its size. The lens's weight has also been redistributed to the back, where it rests on a monopod, facilitating subject tracking and movement. Complementing this functionality is Sony's XD Linear Motor autofocus system, which quickly and quietly tracks subjects in the frame, even during high-speed shooting.

Additionally, Optical SteadyShot can be combined with in-body stabilization to provide 5-axis stabilization. Filmmakers will also appreciate the power focus capability, which provides smooth and even focusing when shooting movies.
