I bought this specifically to provide network in the basement of my house. The distance is from the 4th floor to the basement of the apartment building, and the socket is single-phase, supplying power to the basement. Compared to a Devolo 650+ that I already had, it did indeed provide better speeds.
Specifically, the Devolo 650+ gave around 300 Mbit/s, while the Devolo 2400 averages around 500 Mbit/s, and I have seen even higher speeds. Now, if it's worth the money, the answer is that you get what you pay for. If you need a powerline for difficult situations, then it is the best option available on the market, and one of the few implementations in the Greek market with G.hn Wave-2 chipset. Traditionally, Zyxel has very good PLCs abroad, but they are hard to find in our country.
In my initial search, I wanted a PLC with G.hn Wave-2 chipset that combines a Wireless Access Point. After many negative comments regarding the AP part of the Devolo Magic 2, I ended up with separate PLC and AP solutions. It's not ideal, but it's hard to find manufacturers that do everything right.
In conclusion, if you are looking for the best PLC on the market for difficult missions and can't run an Ethernet cable, don't look elsewhere. However, premium comes at a price.
Αγόρασα το συγκεκριμένο έτσι ώστε να παρέχω δίκτυο στην αποθήκη του σπιτιού μου. H απόσταση είναι από τον 4ο όροφο στο υπόγειο της πολυκατοικίας και το ρολόι είναι μονοφασικό, από το ίδιο ρολόι τροφοδοτείται η αποθήκη. Σε σύγκριση με ένα Devolo 650+ που ήδη είχα όντως βγάζει καλύτερες ταχύτητες.
Συγκεκριμένα το Devolo 650+ έδινε περίπου 300 Mbit/s ενώ το Devolo 2400 φτάνει κατά μέσο όρο τα 500 Mbit/s ενώ έχω δει και μεγαλύτερες ταχύτητες. Τώρα αν αξίζει τα χρήματα του η απάντηση είναι ότι πληρώνεις παίρνεις. Αν έχεις ανάγκη από ένα powerline για δύσκολες καταστάσεις τότε είναι ότι καλύτερο κυκλοφορεί στην αγορά και από τις λίγες υλοποιήσεις στην Ελληνική αγορά με G.hn Wave-2 chipset. Παραδοσιακά στο εξωτερικό η Zyxel έχει πολύ καλά PLC αλλά στη χώρα μας είναι δυσεύρετά.
Στην αρχική μου αναζήτηση ήθελα ένα PLC με G.hn Wave-2 chipset το οποίο να συνδυάζει Wireless Access Point. Μετά από πάρα πολλά αρνητικά σχόλια όσο αφορά το AP κομμάτι του Devolo Magic 2 κατέληξα σε λύση PLC and AP ξεχωριστά. Δεν είναι το ιδανικό αλλά δύσκολα βρίσκεις κατασκευαστές που να τα κάνουν όλα σωστά.
Καταλήγοντας. Αν ψάχνεις για το καλύτερο PLC της αγοράς για δύσκολες αποστολές και δεν μπορείς να περάσεις καλώδιο ethernet μην κοιτάξεις κάπου αλλού. Το premium όμως πληρώνεται.
