Description & Specifications

Odysseas Elytis is not just a great poet who illuminated modern Greek poetry with the Nobel Prize in Literature, but primarily a modern mystic and exponent of the Orphico-Pythagorean-Platonic-Homeric Greek tradition, proving the unbroken continuity of the Greek Logos through the ages.

He himself stated in an interview with the newspaper Ta Nea: "I do not know if there is anything but one language, the unified language, the Greek, as it evolved from the ancient times, which has become our great pride and our great support." The Greek language is not a common human language; it is divine, structured so perfectly that it cannot be the product of the human brain.

This is the golden link that ties our modern Odysseus, our initiated poet, with Homer, the pillar of the tribe. And this is what he used to express in coded form the supreme truths that are hermetically sealed in Homer's work, the beloved of the Muses. That is why he unequivocally states: "My only concern is my language on the shores of Homer."

In this work, twelve set poems and songs by Odysseas Elytis are interpreted based on the etymological analysis of the words he uses, and it is proven that these are the same coded truths that Homer captures in his epics concerning the cosmic transfiguring journey of the soul, which passes through the purification of emotion.
