The Homeric "Odyssey" can undoubtedly be considered a symbol of the great adventure of the Pontians, a people of Greek-Ionian descent with a history that dates back to the depths of the centuries.

Amidst continuous wars with empires and hordes of barbarians, amidst periods of autonomy and slavery, the Pontians maintained a remarkable purity in their regions and together managed to preserve their Greek national identity, their customs, and their language.

Honoring the Ionian descent and the history of the Pontians, honoring the victims of genocide, the translator of the "Odyssey," the publisher, and all those who worked on the realization of this edition dedicate it to the Pontians who survived and recently returned to Greece, as well as to those who are still in Pontus and the surrounding areas, in the hope that we will treat them in a manner worthy of their descent and history.
