The Gospels, therefore, can also be understood and interpreted in the light of the science of alchemy. At first glance, they simply provide an account of the life of a man, Jesus, who was born two thousand years ago in Palestine, but while they recount the different stages of his life, from birth to death and resurrection, they actually also describe alchemical processes. Alchemy was condemned by the Church, even when the Popes themselves practiced it. And if you have studied the sculptures both outside and inside cathedrals, such as Notre-Dame in Paris or Notre-Dame in Chartres, for example, you will discover what knowledge Christians possessed at the time these monuments were built.
