In 1922, seven hundred women leave the East and crowd into the third class of the merchant ship that will take them to America, where unknown men await them.

In their small trunks, a family wedding dress and the photograph of the groom for identification. Many things happen during the twenty days of the journey. In life, for all of us, there is a love we will never forget.

The Brides are a journey with many meanings. An experience of brutal severance from the warm nest of childhood and youth. An experience of losing both the bare minimum and the greatest good, which is for a person to speak and hear their mother tongue around them.

Yet it is also an anticipation for the daily wage and daily food. It is a lifeline for the impoverished world that sank in the storms of a troubled time and region.
