Description

Dependency // Bankruptcies // Migration Productive-Social Deficit // Memoranda

The recent crisis (2008-2018), which began as a crisis of subprime mortgage loans (financial), evolved in Greece from a borrowing crisis to a fiscal crisis, to a debt crisis, to a crisis of the real economy, as well as a social crisis, with a crisis in employment, explosive increases in unemployment, and serious economic, income, demographic, and social impacts.

In this context, the book's interest focuses on the exploration and understanding of the content of the productive structure, the productive and social deficit of the Greek economy, as well as the search for the deeper causes of the crises, bankruptcies, migration, and the "bailout memoranda," their economic and social implications, both during the period of loan agreements (2010-2018) and long-term, up to 2060.

At the same time, the book aims to investigate the internal contradictions, distortions, and pathologies of the Greek economy, combined with the exogenous factors that, to the extent that they are relevant, negatively affect the process of expanded reproduction and development of productive forces and the level of satisfaction of social needs.

A book-compass for understanding the Greek economic reality. The authors, with academic precision and social sensitivity, analyze the course of the Greek economy from the 2008 crisis to the long-term effects of the memoranda. The work does not limit itself to describing the events, but delves into the structural causes of the crises: productive insufficiency, social inequalities, demographic shrinkage, and institutional pathologies.
Ideal for economists, social science students, political analysts, but also for any citizen who wants to understand how and why we got here – and what we can do to change course.
