The first adaptation for children of Vasilis by Antonios Matesis by Dimitra Vamvakari. Harlequins and masks unfold the love story of Filipakis and Garoufalia. The strict Dareios Ronkalas, Garoufalia's father, refuses to marry his daughter to a groom from the "lower houses" because he believes that it threatens her fortune. He is even willing to defend the honor of his family at any cost. However, through a series of unforeseen events, Ronkalas is forced to accept Filipakis as his son-in-law.
The theatrical, social drama Vasilis, a landmark work in Greek drama, is transformed into a carnival, Ionian celebration, where Ger-Nikolas from Smyrna, nobles and commoners, harlequins and masks take us on a journey to Venetian-ruled Zakynthos in 1712.
The play is enriched with suggested music and concludes with an Appendix for Educators with suggested improvisations for the Theater Education lesson, as well as Greek and Foreign Bibliography on Theater.
