If in the second millennium Western Christianity played a dominant role, the third millennium may be the millennium of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Orthodoxy is inherently universal, as it has always walked alongside universal Hellenism throughout history.
And Orthodoxy has never been imperialistic, nor has it ever shown signs of expansionism and domination. Christianity, as a proposal for life and history, particularly in its Orthodox universal perspective, is a synthesis of the healthy elements of Hellenism with the soteriological purpose of the Christian message.
Christianity, therefore, is called to always be at the center of history and to be a functional element of every good and virtuous aspect of historical cultural development. This means that, at least for us, Orthodoxy cannot be properly understood and experienced without these two dimensions, which are Christianity and Hellenism.
