He was born in Kozani in 1925. A graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he has been teaching as a philologist since 1952 at the Commercial School of Kozani. A scholarship holder of the I.K.Y. for studies in Germany, he went to Munich in 1957-58. He particularly focuses on linguistics, especially modern Greek and the northern dialects.

In 1956, he published the study "The masculine article i in the northern modern Greek dialects." In the daily newspaper and in the magazine Nea Estia, Athens, he published various short studies of linguistic content. In this way, he presents Vasilis Foris and his "Diary of Western Macedonia" from 1960 in the introductory note of the article "Orthographic features of the Kozani dialect," and it is indicative that the enforced katharevousa of the time is interrupted only by the title of the study.

The continuation of the presentation, naturally written in demotic, could be: Scientific collaborator from 1960 to 1970 and, subsequently, Director of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies (Manolis Triantafyllidis Foundation) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. With the linguistic reform of 1976, he participates in committees for the establishment of demotic in education and in areas of public administration.

He published, among other things, the Reverse table of adverbs ending in -ως of ancient Greek and translated "Handbook of Classical Studies" by M. C. Howatson. He retired on December 31, 1991, and four years later he passed into eternity. Flipping through the pages of his work, one could immediately characterize him with two words: Demoticist and Kozanite. This volume aims to portray these two aspects of his personality - and a third, which will be mentioned later.
