My personal opinion. The author digresses in many parts just to fill pages. The story develops slowly and predictably. Unfortunately, I was just reading it to finish it.

The story takes place in Jerusalem's Lot or Salem's Lot, and the protagonist is Ben Mears, a writer who returns to the homeland where he grew up and which marked his childhood. After his return, strange events will soon begin to occur: the murder of a dog, the disappearance of two children, and the opening of a shop by two mysterious people are some of the events that will trigger a series of developments that no resident could have imagined. The danger is great and apparently… eternal. The influences from earlier horror writers like Lovecraft are evident, and it also seems that some books that Stephen King himself read influenced him in writing this book. The way the plot is structured, I can say that I didn't like it, because it takes quite a while for the real story to begin. Also, there are way too many names. For someone who reads a lot of books, it is difficult to learn and remember so many characters. Overall, it is one of the good books of the author and proves once again that King is not just the king of horror literature, but of literature in general these days.

The book is a big disappointment. In order to write 760 pages, the author often deviates from the subject, resulting in moments where you are absorbed in the reading and suddenly become disappointed. Additionally, there are many pages dedicated to describing scenes that were supposed to be included but were changed. If the book was 350 pages and stayed focused on the subject, it would have been great. It is incredibly exhausting. I finished it with great effort and finally I can go back to watching Netflix.

It was the first book I read by Stephen King. The book is truly terrifying. In the beginning, he describes the town and the people in the town in detail so that you know them better, and then the ultimate terror unfolds :)

Salem's Lot is one of the most famous and significant works of Stephen King. The story takes place in Jerusalem's Lot or Salem's Lot, and the protagonist is Ben Mears, a writer who returns to the homeland where he grew up and which marked his childhood. After his return, strange events will soon begin to occur: the murder of a dog, the disappearance of two children, and the opening of a shop by two mysterious people are some of the events that will trigger a series of developments that no resident could have imagined. The danger is great and apparently… eternal. The influences from earlier horror writers like Lovecraft are evident, and it also seems that some books that Stephen King himself read influenced him in writing this book. The way the plot is structured, I can say that I didn't like it, because it takes quite a while for the real story to begin. Also, there are way too many names. For someone who reads a lot of books, it is difficult to learn and remember so many characters. Overall, it is one of the good books of the author and proves once again that King is not just the king of horror literature, but of literature in general these days.

Αφού επιστρέψει, σύντομα περίεργα γεγονότα θα αρχίσουν να συμβαίνουν: η δολοφονία ενός σκύλου, η εξαφάνιση δύο παιδιών και το άνοιγμα ενός μαγαζιού από δύο μυστηριώδους ανθρώπους είναι κάποια από τα γεγονότα που θα πυροδοτήσουν μια σειρά από εξελίξεις που κανένας κάτοικος δεν θα μπορούσε να φανταστεί. Για κάποιον που διαβάζει πολλά βιβλία, είναι δύσκολο να μάθει αλλά και να θυμάται τόσους πολλούς χαρακτήρες. Σε γενικές γραμμές είναι ένα από τα καλά βιβλία του συγγραφέα και αποδεικνύει για άλλη μια φορά ότι ο Κινγκ δεν είναι ο βασιλιάς μόνο της λογοτεχνίας τρόμου, αλλά της λογοτεχνίας γενικότερα στις μέρες μας.

The book is a big disappointment. In order to write 760 pages, the author often deviates from the subject, resulting in moments where you are absorbed in the reading and suddenly become disappointed. Additionally, there are many pages dedicated to describing scenes that were supposed to be included but were changed. If the book was 350 pages and stayed focused on the subject, it would have been great. It is incredibly exhausting. I finished it with great effort and finally I can go back to watching Netflix.

King's writing is characteristic, he builds characters with the same ease with which he abolishes them, sets up a gloomy scene and keeps you tightly within it, until the last page.
