A BOOK HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE. With sales exceeding three million copies worldwide, this book shows us how to unlock the power within us and become what we truly desire.

Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology along with Freud and Jung, it describes a highly enlightening conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his student how we can define our lives and free ourselves from the chains of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

This is a deeply liberating way of thinking, which allows us to find the courage to change and ignore the limitations we impose on ourselves – as well as those imposed by others around us. The result is a book that has already been labeled a phenomenon and gives us simple yet significant lessons to forever achieve happiness.

Read an excerpt

The young man entered the office and sat hunched over in a chair. Why was he so determined to reject the philosopher’s theories? His reasons were clear. He lacked self-confidence, and since his childhood, this had been exacerbated by deeply rooted feelings of inferiority regarding his personal and academic background, as well as his physical appearance. As a result, perhaps, he tended to feel excessively embarrassed when others looked at him. Above all, he seemed unable to truly appreciate the happiness of others, while constantly feeling sorry for himself. For him, the philosopher’s claims were nothing more than fantasies.

YOUNG MAN: A moment ago you mentioned an “alternative philosophy,” but I learned that you specialize in Greek philosophy. PHILOSOPHER: Yes, Greek philosophy has been the focus of my life since I was a teenager. The great intellectual figures: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle. At the moment, I am translating a work by Plato and I want to spend the rest of my life studying classical Greek thought.

YOUNG MAN: So what, then, is this “alternative philosophy”? PHILOSOPHER: It is an entirely new school of psychology established by the Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler in the early 20th century. In our country, it is referred to as Adlerian psychology.

Dare to be yourself: It is easy to read with "light" content!
The direct communication between the two characters "places" you on the scene and at the same time you feel and think the words together with the "new" one in the story.
Unfortunately, towards the end, I lost interest!!! Of course, this is very subjective for everyone!!! But it is definitely recommended!

I gave this rating because I believe that although it is a book full of meaning and values, the way it is presented personally did not satisfy me. I think that the writing method (a discussion between a philosopher and a young person) can distract the reader from what is being discussed in each chapter. However, all the topics analyzed in the book are everyday issues that each of us faces and wishes to have answers and solutions for. I bought it based on the recommendation of a third party, but personally, I would not easily recommend it

Simply excellent..! In the meantime, someone recommended it to me and I didn't expect such a good and interesting book. Whoever sees it, should add it to their library without a second thought! It can change the way you see emotions, people, and life itself!
