With the present volume, the Synopsis covers volumes Θ`-ΙΔ` of the Lexicon of Medieval Greek Demotic Literature (1100-1669), reaching up to the collection, the last entry published by Emmanouil Kriaras.
The compilation of the second volume of the Synopsis began immediately after the publication of the first volume (A-K) in September 2001, a time frame that essentially coincided with the granting by Professor Kriaras to the Centre for Greek Language of the management of his 'Office'—another signal of the teacher's practical trust in the CGL—and lasted exactly two years.
It is worth emphasizing the renewed infrastructure, the dramatically improved working conditions that were achieved during this period, as well as the qualitatively and quantitatively capable research team that was gathered and the new ergonomic approach that prevailed, because all these (besides the timely production of work) can also be read as a validation of the relationship of trust that has been established over the years between Professor Kriaras and the CGL.
Indeed, with the help of the always willing university authorities, Rector Michalis Papadopoulos and Vice Rectors Giannis Antonopoulos and O. Gimba-Tziampiri, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy K. Doukas-Kampitoglou, and the Senate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the spaces and furnishings of the Office were gradually renovated, and its electronic equipment was completed.
In this renewed space, where the color of the Kriaras tradition harmonized with the latest word in digital technology, new research blood flowed in: thanks to the timely understanding of the Minister of Education Petros Efthymiou, for two consecutive years, distinguished teachers were seconded from secondary education to be assigned to the Lexicon.
