The clinical case we present is both representative and exceptional. It is the history of a drug addict, Evrydiki, who wandered in the world of drugs for over ten years, experienced pain in all its manifestations, and managed, through her treatment, to emerge healthy and start a new, 'clean' and creative life.
The peculiarity of the case lies, among other things, in the fact that her life is presented through her own writings. A difficulty in her speech, similar to bradyphasia (stuttering), led her to choose written communication as a means of expression during the therapeutic process.
A year had already passed since she joined the program, and she was regularly participating in the groups, remaining 'clean'. However, the relapses of members of her group and the fear that she might relapse herself made her insistently seek to continue her individual psychotherapy.
Her writings are the windows she opens for us to take a glimpse into her psychological world. These texts primarily cover the period from 1991 to 1992, when her treatment was completed, while in the next four years, one text per year was written. They are quoted in their entirety for the most part.
The book describes this fascinating journey into the depths of Evrydiki's soul, through the labyrinthine corridors of her psychological labyrinth and attempts to introduce the reader to the clinic of drug addiction.
