Many confuse it as an additive for reducing lubricant consumption, but Protec has another product for that. The oil booster, according to analyses from the German Oil Club, has shown that it creates stability in the viscosity of the lubricant. As is already known, the lubricant gets contaminated by the small amount of fuel that passes through the piston rings, and over time, the lubricant thins out and loses some of its viscosity. This is where the oil booster comes in to smooth out this thinning and more. Being viscous, it maintains stable lubrication in areas where the lubricant alone would not suffice. It does not drastically change the viscosity of the lubricant if we consider the correct dosage, which is 40-45ml per liter of lubricant, and very importantly, the engine should be well warmed up for this additive to move more easily. Used in a 2009 Yaris 1.3 with the well-known oil burning problem of these specific engines! From the first time I used it, I noticed a significant difference in the reduction of oil consumption. This was my main concern. The engine has about 180,000 km and the oil consumption problem started around 120,000 km. With this specific product, the consumption has almost been reduced to zero from about 0.5 lt/1000 km!!! Obviously, the engine problem has not been fixed, but this product makes the oil thicker and it does not burn. However, this category of products has been criticized by many for temporarily masking the problem, while in the long term, it has consequences as the oil becoming thicker does not allow for proper lubrication of the engine, and the damage that may occur in the future could be greater. Considering this, and while until now I was using one bottle for each change, from now on I will use half a bottle per change and let it burn a little more oil. And we will see... Four stars because it does what it was bought for, but I take away one star because I don't know what the future holds...

Αυτό με ενδιέφερε κιόλας. Ο κινητήρας έχει περίπου 180. 000χλμ και το πρόβλημα με την κατανάλωση λαδιού ξεκίνησε κάπου στα 120.000 χλμ. Με το συγκεκριμένο προϊόν η κατανάλωση από περίπου 0,5 lt/1000χλμ έχει σχεδόν μηδενιστεί!!!. Προφανώς δεν διορθώθηκε το πρόβλημα του κινητήρα αλλά το συγκεκριμένο προϊόν κάνει το λάδι πιο παχύρευστο και δεν καίγεται. Η συγκεκριμένη κατηγορία προϊόντων ωστόσο από πολλούς έχει κατηγορηθεί ότι καλύπτει προσωρινά το πρόβλημα ενώ μακροχρόνια έχει συνέπειες καθώς με το λάδι να γίνεται πιο παχύρρευστο δεν γίνεται σωστή λίπανση του κινητήρα και μπορεί στο μέλλον η ζημιά που θα προκληθεί να είναι μεγαλύτερη. Αυτά αναλογιζόμενος και ενώ μεχρι τώρα χρησιμοποιούσα ένα μπουκάλι σε κάθε αλλαγή εφεξής θα χρησιμοποιώ μισό μπουκάλι ανά αλλαγή και ας κάψει και λίγο παραπάνω λάδι . Και βλέπυμε...
