“I believe that the role of the psychologist is primarily to provide the facts that the educator can use, rather than to take their place to advise them. It is the educator's task to see how they can utilize what is offered to them. Pedagogy is not only applied. It is also a set of techniques that the specialist must improve,” said Jean Piaget.
Sharing the above view while simultaneously declaring the necessity for both psychological and pedagogical training of educators, I undertook the writing of this book, titled “Pedagogical Psychology,” including both general psychology and psycho-pedagogy.
Although the coexistence of pedagogy with general psychology is not always successful, and the designation “pedagogy” indicates a somewhat limited space, we chose the above title, adapting it to the context of the School for the use of the students to whom this book is primarily addressed.
Thus, believing that the future professor of Technical Vocational Education should have the pedagogical training that will allow them to shape well-rounded personalities, creative individuals, “inventors, innovators, and not conformists,” alongside psychological training, we proceeded with the writing of this handbook.
We believe that knowledge of Psychology, along with pedagogy, will enable future educators “to shape tomorrow's person to be psychologically richer than today’s.”
