The work includes two parts, the first of which introduces the reader to the concept and history of Text Linguistics, a key precursor (and) of Translation Studies, while the second deals with Translation Studies itself through a succinct presentation of selected fundamental concepts related to every translation process, with particular emphasis on texts that contain language for special purposes, as well as the more specific category of legal texts.
Additionally, in the second part, concepts are analyzed that are marked with terms proposed by the author, within the framework of a linear approach to the relationship between source text and target text, which focuses on the surface structure of the text and is suitable for theoretical teaching purposes.
For both the widely used translation terms and those introduced by the author, the corresponding foreign language term (usually English but sometimes also German, French, etc.) is provided in parentheses, on the one hand for easier searching of the given topic in international literature, and on the other hand for easier rendering of a new term with the aim of using it in foreign language works.
