The individual chapters of a book about modern Greek theater contain and represent the entire journey of modern Greek theater from Chortatsis to Kampanellis and symbolize the entire course of theatrical art in the country that gave birth to it, even though in times far removed from ancient greatness.

But this conceptual confrontation with the past gives the venture both suspense and makes the engagement with modern Greek culture so unique within the plethora of European cultures. The journey of theater in Greece is also the longest of all and one of the most difficult, with pauses and stagnations, stations that resemble lethargy or hibernation, with ruptures and cuts, endings and new beginnings.

It is, if you will, a didactic example for `postmodern` historiography, which no longer sees the whole with the unifying lenses of evolutionism but emphasizes discontinuities and interruptions. The great journey is a series of smaller journeys, more limited in space and time, which converge into an ideal level.
