The aim of this publication is to record the reflection on issues of language and gender in relation to the Greek language - which, although limited, nonetheless exists - and to prevent a potential marginalization of the issues that this entails in Greek public opinion.
The starting point of this endeavor is the social problem, specifically the social sexism against women, which still today (co)determines Greek reality. This is not, of course, a 'women’s' issue, but a matter of relationships, power relations between the two genders.
A linguistic starting point is the position that language does not only passively reflect society but is a constitutive factor in its formation and consequently may lead through its speakers to the production and reproduction of social inequalities and the ideologies that sustain them.
