Description

The fundamental changes that have occurred in commercial company law in recent years since the 4th edition of this work can be characterized as radical to the extent that they necessitate the updating even of an "introduction to company law".

Law 4072/2012, with its successful provisions contained in Part 7 regarding personal commercial companies, for the first time introduces a comprehensive and modern law for these companies as, until its issuance, Greek law had insufficient provisions that were mainly found in the Commercial Code of 1835. Additionally, this same law (Law 4072/2012) introduces the new institution of the Private Capital Company (IKE), which has received positive feedback from the market, judging by the large number of IKE companies that have been established.

A series of laws has followed that have renewed the basic legislation with successful and less successful provisions, including legislation for common and certain special public limited companies, such as primarily Law 3873/2010 for the annual and consolidated accounts of certain company forms, Law 4308/2014 for the Greek Accounting Standards, Law 4403/2016 for annual and consolidated financial statements in alignment with European law, and Law 4449/2017 for the mandatory audit of annual and consolidated financial statements. All this production of new fundamental legislative provisions necessitated the 5th edition of this work "Companies".

The book serves as a handy, comprehensive, and updated working aid for lawyers, legal advisors, business consultants, and companies in general, and is enriched with extensive bibliography and a unified alphabetical index, which aids the reader in searching for the issue of interest.
