The classical philologist Elia S. Spyropoulos, doctoral graduate of the Sorbonne, Advisor of the Center for Educational Research and the Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, and President of the Department of Secondary Education, has made significant contributions to the utilization of the intellectual legacy of ancient Greek authors in contemporary educational practice and in cultivating a broader reading audience through his written work, specifically: a) with original philological studies, results of scientific research in the field of ancient Greek literature, b) with interpretative editions of masterpieces of ancient Greek literature (with thorough introductions, original text, translation, and interpretative comments), particularly of Aristophanes, Plato, and the Histories of Herodotus (his magnum opus being the five-volume edition).
At the same time, Elia S. Spyropoulos, continuing the tradition of great modern Greek classical philologists, has also dealt with topics of modern Greek literature. Thus, he has published books [...] and has collaborated with scholarly and literary journals through articles and studies.
