Δίνεται έμφαση να βρεθεί η νεοελληνική λέξη που αντιστοιχεί στην την πρωτότυπη ομηρική (πχ κοινή ρίζα), και να αποδειχθεί η συνέχεια της γλώσσας. Η ποιητικότητα δεν εχει προτεραιότητα, αλλα και δεν απουσιάζει .
